I own a number of guns... I love my Remington 700 in 7mm express, and my FN in 270 and I've shot deer with both. but my favorite currently is my Savage 99 in 7mm-08 a rifle action developed 100 years ago. What is yours?

My favorite is by far the lever action. Although I do most of my hunting with either a bolt or a pump. Not sure why. I only carry the .30-.30 in the brush or when it's raining really hard.

I started out deer hunting using an old lever action 30-30. I used it until I turned 16 when I bought my 30-06 pump. This year will be my 16th yr. with the pump. Me and the 30-06 become one come deer season. I personally will not be starting my kids out with a lever action because I feel they are dangerous. I don't like the idea that the cartridge has to go in and out of the chamber so often. I also remember those times when the lever action jammed.

You asked "FAVORITE", so I choose the old reliable Gene Autry style lever action.

All of the action's listed have their advantages and disadvantages. The lever and pump guns have the advantage of faster follow up shots, the disadvantages are that these actions generally do not provide the accuracy potential of a bolt. I own levers, pumps and bolt action guns. IMO it is hard to improve upon the perfection of the mauser action or its variants.
