Default Why?

Question ? I saw a 6 point buck on my land last night. It is March 28th here in Virginia and I thought all bucks would have shed by now. Does anyone have an explanation on why this buck still has a rack?

There's probably some good nutrition in that area. He'll shed soon. Bucks tend to shed their antlers earlier in places with inferior nutrition. Or it could be one of those rare antlered does...

Its perfectly normal if the deer is in good health. Usually deer shed earlier if their food sources are scarce and are having a tough time keeping their body conditions up for the winter haul.

I also heard that the bigger racked deer shed earlier than the smaller guys for some reason. Maybe the weight of the antler? I dont know. But like already said, the deer will most likely shed those antlers soon.
