I was talking to a friend who has a farm in Wisconsin and he told me that he was watching deer in the fields every night and as they have been going he is watching 6 to 7 buck and now he is watching 3 to 4 bucks and usually he sees one with one side that he has seen yesterday with two sides..so yes they are starting and I am going to wait till next weekend before I go to make sure that all have dropped due to my mistakes last year where I kicked all of the deer out and never found a shed:( so yes they are dropping...
I CAN"T WAIT TO GET OUT OF THE HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lowes, or Chase Pitkens, are the best bets.[:@]

All seriousness aside, I generally wait until the snow is gone, and the grasses, weeds, brush is knocked down.

I am sure the majority of them have shed by now. I usually find my sheds in March or April when the snow is gone. I always look hard when I'm turkey hunting.

Here in central Iowa, I believe they are dropping like crazy. Last weekend I took my daughter back to college and saw at least a couple hundred deer in the fields along the interstate and didn't see a single set of antlers. I'll be off hiking the woods probably next weekend when my wife and son are gone for the weekend and I'll have some time to myself.

Were you guys inside a fence? I can walk miles per day on public and private land on a weekend and am lucky to find one or two.

I found a nice set three weeks ago while checking my trail cam. It was luck that I found them really I had some extra time so I decided to walk a draw and make sure my treestand was still there. I also went out two weeks ago actually looking for them and found 0. I'm still seeing bucks with antlers around, but I think a lot of them surely dropped by now.

We are still seeing bucks that still have horns and some that have already shed. We usually wait until next month or during spring turkey season to hunt for sheds.

Went to the cabin this weekend to work on food plots, but spent the time clearing the roads to them after the massive ice storm we had jan 27th. Found one 4pt shed in one of my plots, but saw two bucks this past weekend that still had their horns.

Ive been doing a little shed hunting , and tree trimming , also have my trail cams out but here in Nothern NY, I havent seen any sheds yet .
Snows still abought 10 to 24 inches deep and the deer are traveling all over so its hard trenching there to say the least .

RE: Time for shed hunting yet?

I think they are pretty much dropped in IL...I saw 45 deer an evening last week in a preserve...none with antlers and I have to imagine a portion of them had to be bucks.

RE: Time for shed hunting yet?

I went last week on my land in kansas and walked my a;; off. Found 2 new sheds 1 old. and saw a bachelor group of about 35 40 bucks, it was pretty amazing. 90 percent had both sides with the others having one side. the biggest had both sides and he should scare 180 i just like how wide he is. I cant wait for the burning, thats when they stand out and you can fill up the ranger.

here in southern wisconsin i usually start lookin for sheds indecember, this is your best time to find them or even dead bucks that were shot the gun season and never recovered...i have found 28 sheds this spring 10 different sets, biggest is 16 points and i have even found one shed at the opening of a coyote den, it must have picked it up and couldnt get it down the hole..
