RE: protecting your gun
I have never heard of anyone doing that, and there is probably a good reason.
Sack Ups makes an oil impregnated sack for storing a gun. I have used them and have never had a problem with guns rusting in storage.

RE: protecting your gun
I hope that your guns are kept in a safe/cabinet and not a case.
A little oil coating is all that you need.
Throw a box of baking soda in the safe/cabinet, and that will help soak up some moisture.
Also, silica packets work well and are not nearly as expensive as things like golden rods, and you dont have to plug them in.

Would it be a good idea to seal the barrel or the intire gun and vacum seal it from the air?
Would this protect it from moisture and possible rust ?

You can get something called rig grease.
Put a fine layer on all the metal parts.
I hope this helps.
