Hey guys, I have 80 acres in the Florida panhandle, it is hog and deer paradise. Deer season is closed here in TN but open FL I am making a trip down tomorrow morning, to get a couple deer and go squirrel hunting. Now the brush is very thick like ya can't see more than 20 yards in front of ya, but the place I'm set up I can see 40 yards from my ladder stand. would a 20 gauge 2 3/4 slug work for these deer biggest are 150# usually 125#, the gun is a single shot 20 gauge all I have in the shotgun department, it is a mod. choke will it suffice, my .243 is out of whack I dropped it and do not have time to sight in once I get there. Tips and advice please.

Where Should I aim, because I want to kill it quickly the brush in Florida is very nasty i.e hogs and brush. Would a heart shot suffice to kill it quickly?

Your 20ga will kill any deer to any range that thing will throw a good grouping to. It has more than enough "knock down" power to kill a deer.

Most shots will be 20 yards at 25 the most. So i think my gun will do just fine.

If you put a scope on it it would be good out to 80yds no problem.

Put it through the front shoulder into the lungs or heart. You may lose some meat but it's not going anywhere once you break the front quarter down.

i use an HR slug hunter 20 ga 2 3/4 on shot up to 100 yards, yeah it'll work on 25 yards

Yep, In parts of new york you can only hunt with a shot gun, and I know many people who have taken large bucks with a 20.

The rut here in the panhandle is going full bore right now. I saw 3 eight points chasing does yesterday.
