RE: treestand cover and positions
if your stand has a rail around it i would hang sum camo burlap from the rail ( you can pick it up at walmart for like 5 bucks ) it will give you enough consealment to shif you feet and legs around and it also serves as a wind breaker

RE: treestand cover and positions
This time of year when the leaves are long gone I often setup on the opposite side of the tree from where I expect to see deer. It doesn't always work and you have to spend most of the time standing, but it is the only way to be concealed.

Try to have limbs, etc behind you to break up your outline. Evergreens like holley or cedars are good to trim and put the stand in. Placing the stand on the south or north side of the potential shooting areas will prevent having the sun behind you.

RE: treestand cover and positions
I try to bury my stands in cover. If i use a ladder stand i like to have a lot of cover around me, my favorite right now has two ceder trees next to it and i cut a small hole through them so i can shoot. The stand is 8 yards from a massive trail and 3 yards from another, havent been busted yet, knock on wood. And my dad shot his biggest buck to date out of it.
My hang on stands I like to have lots of limbs and if i cant have that i choose a bigger tree where my body is covered by the sheer mass of the tree. |
