Default Lightfield Slug performance on my deer

Shot my deer this year with a H&R Ultra Slug 20 gauge using Lightfield Slugs. Shot was about 60-75 yards, hit him a little high, took out both lungs and slug stopped against the hide on the other side. It expanded to.856 and weighed 455 grains. The best I can tell and unfired slug is .525 and 485 grains. Deer went 50 yards and went down. My gun also shoots these slugs very accurate. Just a little review.

Rural King sometimes have them in 20 gauge, but Gander Mountain always have them. This year they were $12.99 for a box of 5.

Very nice. Suprised it didn't exit though?! You mentioned it was a high hit, did you catch either or both shoulders? Purely curious.

I use to shoot lighfields and loved them.

I now use the Hornady SSTs out of my H&R Ultra Slug 12. They shoot great out to 200 yardsin low wind with about a 5.5 inch drop with my Leopold set at ZERO @ 150 yards.

Did not hit either shoulder, just the rib cage, lungs, windpipe and rib cage on other side. I like the fact that al of the energy of that slug stayed inside the deers bodyl

I argee very much on the SST's. I shot a box at 200 yards last year and put them all on the paper. My Lightfieds are good out to 150 yards, drop about 9 inches, but at 200 the have hit the wall propably dropping 24 inches. Where I hunt a 150 yard shot would be about the max. But with the SST's and some work it could be a 200 yard gun.
