My first 10 pointer!
I got my first 10 point buck last Friday, 11/28/08. I was only in the stand for about an hour and it was just after sunrise. The buck came running down the edge of the field and busted into the woods about 5 to 10 yards in front of me. I didn't have much time to react and put my gun on his shoulder and pulled the trigger! He dropped right in his tracks and I thought he was dead but he raised his head and started dragging himself toward me to the left and I had to put another slug in him to finish him off. When I got out of my stand I didn't even know for sure how big he was only that he had a decent spread. I thought he was an 8 point but when I got to him I found out he was a 10 so I was stoked. I also found out that the reason he dropped in his tracks was because I hit him in the spine because I hit a small tree that I didn't see when I took the shot. This hunt was special to me because it was the first hunt I got to be with my dad and actually get a deer. I have been hunting for a long time and have bagged other deer before but never with my dad so it was a great day and I know my dad was so happy to be there with me!
