i had to laugh, not making fun of you but your story is funny.

way you started the story,I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE A HUGE BUCK:D

when you said it was DOE, honestly, i laughed so hard i hurt my ribs.:)
You don't hunt does? I just told it because it was a rain story. I'm sorry if I disappointed you. This old doe is pretty smart, she winded me a few weeks ago and blew to warn any others in the area. She seems to move only on thick trails. I'm just considering it a challenge to get her into my freezer. Trophies are nice, but not as nice as backstrap.

Light rain and drizzly days are my favorite time to hunt, you are much more likely to see deer all day. And while I usually only hunt from astand, the woods are very easy to sneak around for a stalk in light rain. If it's a freakin monsoon, I vote with the others stay home and stay dry. Pop up blinds keep you dry in light rain, and I have three tree houses to hunt out of, so it might be easier for me than some others. I also agree that you need better than average shots, go for a neck or high shoulder shot if you decide to shoot. Trackng is nearly impossible.

Hunters usually remain indoors during any heavy rain. To the deer, it's just another wet day. They are used to it and live through all sorts of weather their entire life. Yes, the deer will usually bed down during a heavy rain and most hunters know where to look. Most times it's under heavy cover, especially pines, that offer security and relief from nasty weather.

I have hunted in heavy rain many times and have killed a few decent bucks. Most times, the bedded deer will either move and give me a chance to pick up their motion or they will rise suddenly to check out what they thought they heard. Just because we think it's a miserable day, the deer may not necessarily agree. Besides, that's why they make rain gear.

A friend of mine started packing a small umbrella on days where rain was in the forcast. I made fun of him up until it started to pour, and I sat there getting soaked while he sat under his umbrella grinning.
