finally got my buck, with pic
We hunt private land in OK and is about 1700 acres. I had seen a fairly large buck the first morning on Saturday the 22nd. however due to the fact that the Rut really started to get going earlier than season started I always felt as if i was a step behind.
truth be told i saw 4 deer with one horn in a day. the odds of that is so slim. one was really old so i guess the other set just fell off. the other two were just really young and the last one had a huge set of 4 points on one side, but it seemed he had something wrong with his front knee and it stopped his growth on his right side.
anyhow i hunted longer than I normally due mainly because this is my first deer season with a wife at home. and she put the pressure on me. i had no luck at all really in seeing mature bucks and then finally it happened thanksgiving day.
i got ticked that my brother in law hadn't left his stand at 11:30a.m. yet so i just set off to watch a field and take a snooze. i was worn out and had to get rested to get back at the Gap for the damn Black Friday.
i feel asleep and randomly i woke up an hour later not knowing where i was or who i was with a wonderful 8 pointer standing out in the field. i jumped up and my binoculars and knife flew off and it startled the deer. He ran but had no chance at my 30.06.
so at 1pm i had finally got my 8 pointer. he dressed out at 150 pounds.
hope ya'lls year went as well as mine.
