Just killed my first deer. A 9 point.
I dont have any pictures of the deer, cause, the picture would've been ugly. Ya see, I kinda suck, and shot it in the back of the head, and there was blood everywhere, so I decided to just not take any pictures. But, A kills a kill, so, hooray for me. I did, however, dry fire twice on a pretty nice 8 point. I was using a friends 30-06 and it doesnt jack a cartridge into the chamber after you put the clip in and pump it once. So, I fred at a real nice 8 point at about 40 yards with no cartridge in the chamber. I real quietly pumped it to jack a cartridge into the chamber, and turns out I didnt fully close the chamber, so I dry fired again, and it took off. Figured I wasnt gonna get another shot after that. But, I did.
I decided to not go with a head mount, and I just cut the rack off. But, now I dont know what I need to do to keep the rack from goin bad and smelling like a dead possum all the time. I want to leave the hair on top of the skull, so I dont want to boil it. Anyone for any advice on what I need to do to the rack?
