Any California hunters out here?
If so, I feel your pain. Maybe we can kick around some ideas/ areas.
I live in western side of area D-5. Knowing that. It takes about 3hrs of drive time to getto a publichuntable area.
Hunting off Hwy 88. From Black SpringsRd up to Bear Res.
I missed out on Bow season due to an injury. I did go up one time during Rifle season. Thatreminded me of why I stopped rifle hunting long ago. Sounded like a war zone all night long. (Needless to say. I did not see anything bigger than a squirrel) After two nights of this. I packed it up and went home. I will never hunt Rifle season in this area again.
Bow season is much different. It is nice andquiet and most years, I have the mountain to myself and see plenty of deer from the seven stand sitesI have set up.
Advice Welcomed.

If I were a bit youngerand not so tied down here.
Trust me, I would.
This has to be the worst place on the planet to hunt.
Fish and game can not manage.
We have a 21 doe to 1 buck ratio. No kidding..
Most of the state will not allow a doe hunt either.
Needless to say, I am also looking into out of state hunting.
Any suggestions?

I live in Monterey courtesy of the Marine Corps. PM me and we'll go hunting together. I normally hit up Ft Hunter Liggett. I've also been helping the BLM with a hog problem they've been having lately (has definitely kept my freezer full!!!).
