Default Good Wicking Layers with a Non-Breathing Outer Layer

So I broke down and got really good wicking under layers this year. The good news was that they did their job very well. The bad news was that my outermost layers don't breathe and all the moisture built up on the inside of that layer and formed snow because it was so cold. Ugh.

Ouch, never had that happen.

Do you also pull your socks down and over the tops of your boots? This helps the wool socks to dry quicker because the part that is pulled over is exposed to the cold dry air.
