still hunt opening morning?
#1

Hey everyone,
I'm looking at the weather on opening morning (this Saturday) and it looks like the wind will be howling out of the NW (22 mph) all day long. Do you all think the deer will be moving with the wind whipping like that? Would it be better to try and walk them up?

22 MPH?!?! We will have gusts up to 60 tomorrow. 22 is an average day in SD.

I wouldn't still hunt on gun opener unless you were positive that you were in the boonies and there'd be NO ONE around. I wouldn't even trust private land that's posted. I've seen too many trespassers.

I still hunt every where I go. Public or not. I just usually get so far back in the swamps that no average Joe is gonna folow me. I seem to see more deer when I'm waist deep in swamp because all of the average hunters are hanging back on dry land. Admittedly, I haven't killed any this way, but I'm still kinda refining my "hunting abilities".
