RE: first buck
It's a start. My first deer was a doe fawn. Most people don't kill a giant deer for their first. Congrats.

RE: first buck
god damn you shot my dog. what did that weigh dressed? 40lbs? I believe even if its your first some self control should be used especially with gun

RE: first buck
No such thing as "only". He's yours and will live longer than if you had never been there.
Good job. |

RE: first buck
The first deer I ever killed was a 4 point buck. I got alot of BS over it, so I know what your going to go through. Nice job. Buck or no buck. Big or small, its always a great feeling to say "Deer Down".

No disrespect if you are older but from the picture you look like you are 18-21 maybe. Hey kid, listen It was your first deer and you should be proud of it. Now that you have that first kill out of the way move on to bigger and better things. Best of luck to you in the future! Mack |

RE: first buck
Hey man congrats on your first, you'll never forget it, Hey thats just wrong for people tomess with him,in some placesdeer dont get any bigger than that because of jackers and poor deer management..... Anyways GREAT job
|
RE: first buck
Heck, I've hunted for 11 years, taken deer in 6 states, and even got some nice ones... But I still shoot button bucks if they give me a good shot at least until the freezer gets full enough for me to be selective.
Hunting is very personal and means different things to different people. That's one of the reasons why the sport is so great. |
RE: first buck
im only 14 not 18 or 20
|
RE: first buck
good job bud! theres nothing wrong in what you shot, be proud of it. there is alot of people who dont even get a chance at shooting any deer during their season. my first deer was a yearling doe and i evenmounted it! some people laughed, but it was my acomplishment and i worked hard for it, congrats brother, your on the board!!!

RE: first buck
23 What kind of remark is that it's his first deer , he can be proud of that deer. Kids should Always start out with a doe or button buck other wise if they shoot a big buck they my become discouraged if they can't get one bigger next time or the following year. So again remingtonshooter1 be proud of you buck and don't let people like that tell you other wise.

RE: first buck
Ijust stated my opinion like all of you guys did. Thats what makes America great, wecan allhave our own view. My doe was with bow first off so thats totally different then with gun and the doe dressed out to be 115 pounds.(2.5 years old according to the butcher)Yes, you can legally shoot that but some self control should be used when hunting. Not using self control is called being a SLOB HUNTER.
|
RE: first buck
Its his first deer. Let him alone. People like you make me sick. I mean instead of saying good job and congratuating this kid you have to put him down. I just dont get it.
Dont worry about that guy bud, you should be proud of that deer. Congrats. |
RE: first buck
tim03b, I can say what ever I wanna say and people like you make me sick praising a person that shot a deer that weighs less then a coyote. I love killing deer dont get me wrong but that is rediculous. I would really like to know what it weighed dressed out.
|
RE: first buck
I shot a button head today, it may have weighed 65 pounds field dressed... It was bigger than the doe I got with my bow earlier this season.
I don't know about you, but my time is limited, and my land ain't all that great. I've got plenty of self control, just not enough meat in the freezer to dedicate my limited time in the field to hunting only antlered giants just yet. Last year I only had one shot opportunity all season. Sometimes you just have to make the best of the few opportunities you have. |
RE: first buck
A very big CONGRATS remingtonshooter on your harvest! You wont forget it.

RE: first buck

RE: first buck

Not using self control is called being a SLOB HUNTER. I think our young hunter did all of those things, so be careful about criticizing. It could ruin hunting for him and that hurts all of us. He's got a reason to be grinning from ear to ear. This young man has just made a major step in learning to hunt. Let him be proud. ANY safely taken and legal deer for a young beginner is a cause to celebrate. It's much better to congratulate him for what he did right and gently encourage him to improve--say setting a goal of a forkhorn or better next year. Again, congratulations to remingtonshooter1 on your deer. You might start thinking about next year and what your goals will be to be a better a hunter. What deer will you take and what will you pass on? You don't have to decide now, of course, but it's something to consider befpore next season. Also, what you need to do better your hunting abilities in the offseason? May many more deer fall to your gun. |
RE: first buck
Congrats on your first buck man. You'll remember him. Heck I know some hunters that would love to have gotten him. Like someone else said, you're up on them. Congrats.

Congrats! That'll be some great meat on the dinner table. My proudest buck was one about the size of yours as well.
|
RE: first buck
Congrats on your first deer! I was taught when I started hunting to shoot the first legal deer I see, after your first deer to try to go bigger everytime. No one should make fun of a first deer, it is something you'll remember the rest of your life. Congrats again, he'll be great eating.
I second that sack punch and any guy who makes fun of someones first deer has about the same respect on this website as the guy who comes in and makes posts trying to sell Nike shoes!! |
