Too many HNI visitors?

Anybody else besides me tired of seeing these posts? I never even view them, since they are anonomously submitted and put up by the moderators. If someone wants to ask a question, let them register and do it themselves. I don' t think we need additional ideas to discuss. We do ok on our own, thank you.

Maybe others don' t mind, if not, power to you, but I won' t reply to these posts.

I never figured out how they were able to ask the question if they don' t have access to the net, but I don' t mind them. Sometimes they ask good questions and get an interesting thread going, and then there are times they make me look smart. :D

When I first started reading this forum I wasn' t sure if I wanted to join . I just read because I wanted to learn more about it and the people associated with it . So I can understand someone wanting to ask a question just to see how he is recieved . To me as long as a person is interested enough to ask a question ,maybe we can make them feel welcome enough to become a member . Halcon

Txhunter58,

These questions are posted by Hunting Net Administration:

These are questions that people have sent Hunting Net by e-mail. We post them here so you can help answer their questions.
We have many members here, that were at one point in time " HNI Visitors" . They finally joined because they liked what they were reading, in addition to all of the great advice, comments and tips that you folks posted in reply to their questions. ;):)

Some folks are leary of jumping in with both feet....and, its okay to test the waters here. This outlet gives them an opportunity to do just that. In addition, it gives us the chance to help fellow hunters. Many perhaps either new to hunting, or thinking about it. Just a thought......:)

I don' t mind, what' s in a name, Who cares if it says HNI or joe-bob-sue. A question is a question. Like other people have said maybe the person is testing the water before they dive in:)

So basically you dont want to help other hunters UNLESS they sign up with this sight? What ever happened to helping your fellow hunters?

GET OVER IT.

It' s just a question. If you don' t want to answer it then don' t, but why make such a big deal about it. Some of them could be young kids trying to learn about hunting and everything that goes with it and want " EXPERTS" advise... and then they read your post and think the rest of us could care less like yourself. We really need to help other hunters as much as we can even if they aren' t " members" .

RE: Too many HNI visitors?

Some of them might be youngsters who are shy or can' t join because a parent might not have the same enthusiasm or interest in hunting as the youngster. Lets not be Selfish they deserve the same consideration as the rest of us. I for one enjoy reading their posts, most are more informative and interesting than this thread.

The more the merrier. I' ve seen a number of good discussions started by one of the HNI questions. Some may be posting at a job or library where they can' t sign up as a member.

RE: Too many HNI visitors?

Txhunter, you need to lighten up a little bit. I am sure these people who ask questions have a reason in asking them. If you are a seasoned hunter, in which I think you are, is it asking too much to help someone who ask a question? Maybe there is a reason why they can' t sign up, why don' t you ask them?
I don' t know a whole lot about a damn thing, just a little of some, but if someone ask me a question in here or on the street about hunting or whatever, I like to think I can help someone out if I happen to know the subject. These people who ask questions are our future to hunting, ignore them and then where do they go to get the right response? ANTI' s? This forum is put here as a tool to assist us to help the members and public in promoteing my sport of hunting, and I will help those who ask from my past experience and by my own previous mistakes.

Respectfully, Bobby

RE: Too many HNI visitors?

I think most the hni visitor questions are from young, begining hunters. I understand them not wanting to post here, i to was the same way before. When i first started reading these forumns i saw alot of " flaming" that was something i wanted to avoid, maybe they are the same way. after reading this site for a long time and seeing not everyone was rude i to started posting. i have terrible grammer, spelling skills and not one person had pointed that out in almost 500 post ;)

Also that little green ball above the posters name helps if u dont like a person(s).

RE: Too many HNI visitors?

Boy did I get a deserved thrashing! All the above reasons are good ones to reply. I guess I am wondering how we know that the person who asked the question is even still listening. I am all for helping newbies and " lurkers" , but what is the process? When someone emails you a question, do you email them back and tell them where to find the post? Otherwise how do you know they even find/view the question/answers?

If I know that the person who asked will be watching the answers, then sure it is a worthwhile thing. Also, you are correct, it does start some interesting disscussions. Just seems like there are an awful lot of them.

I will shut up now.

RE: Too many HNI visitors?

Christine B,
After you receive the emails and then post them do you email the HNI Visitor to tell them where their anonymous thread is located? What % of the time does the HNI Visitor ever email you a second time with any indication of receiving any benefit? In your personal estimation, what % of these HNI Vistors are children? Does the HNI staff ever create HNI Visitor threads just to get things going when the boards are slow? :)

txhunter58,
Your question may be debatable but has some strong and valid aspects which should not be just lightly brushed aside. Part of helping someone is knowing you' ve helped them and seeing the comprehension in their following replies. How does one know if the time and effort spent to compose an articulate response ever reaches its intended audience and that the originator of the thread really " gets it" if there is no feedback from the other end? Seems a little bit voyeur-like to me.

Never Go Undergunned,
EKM

RE: Too many HNI visitors?

Well said Elkcamp, and I can understand some of your frustration Txhunter, everyone is limited due to there own schedule on which post they want to reply to and if you take 15, 20 or so minutes in replying to a topic, it would be nice to get some kind of att-a-boy and as you said sometimes they don' t respond back, but its kinda like hunting, its the small percentage of the crowd that gives there cause a bad reputation, but maybe I can make a difference.;)

RE: Too many HNI visitors?

Moderators do not post the questions. Administration does. So, I do not think that any of us have any idea as to whether or not administration " forwards" the answers to the original HNI Visitor. However, I would be willing to bet that HNI Visitor, in general, probably reads the replies to the thread on the forum and then signs up based on friendliness of the responses and the quality of the information presented.

RE: Too many HNI visitors?

ElkCampMaster, Those are questions that you would need to ask Administration. I get lots of emails from people that are already members on various issues, but the emails from HNI visitors go to HNI' s home office. Not my inbox. ;)
