Guys,

Down here in North Florida, we arelooking forward to the deer seasonthis year but I do not want anyone here or elsewhere to be deceived in my hopeful anticipation.

In the sacred Southland, we WILL NOT tolerate mediocrity when it comes to whitetail management. Sadly, many times whenI go to a National forest down here or a neighbors land, I encounter one or more Yanks and have to "educate" them on how we practice QDMA down here in God's country.

I just make it a point to get a few things cleared up before the Yanks start getting overzealous and start shooting every spike and 4 pointer they can get a glance at.Firstoff, ya'll are in the sacred Southland.We are not going to tolerate folks coming down here and shooting our young bucks. Every year, ya'll come down here searching for "old mossy horns" and every year I have to preach the same sermon. WE WILL NOT TOLERATE it and it is entirely possible that you taking an underaged buck could result in an ass whipping.

Look, North Florida isamong the elite when it comes to quality bucks and overall whitetail management. FSU's school of whitetail studies, Wakulla County and their recent iniative to recruit female hunters over the age of 55, etc. The list goes on and on.In two words -The best. A tradition that goes back a long way. National recognition,national rankings, etc. The list goes on. With that resume comes respect. The kind of respect that I will demand from all of you here and reading this today.

Southern whitetail hunterscarry that respect whether we are at home whittlin' on a stick and sipping an RC Cola or areon the road and a few things need to be understood. And let me be real honest here, this IS NOT in any way to disuade you from coming on your annual North Florida big buck hunt. I know many of you in the Northeast make an annual tradition of this and I DO NOT want totake away from your little excursion. Just understand that whenyou visit one of our National forests,you are seeing one of the premiere examples of whitetail management in the world. I am talking movers and shakers.Our huntersare no exception.there will NOT be any arguing or so much as a disagreeable word from you when you come down here and that is simply just me shooting it straight to you.I darn well don't plan on preaching the positive insight I bring on deer hunting and then having you folks come down here and shooting young bucks. So let it be known Iwill ask you one time to stop and no more.If you continue then I will take a physical solution that you will not like. I will NEVER provoke.

I am very upfront and honest when I tell you that it ain't nothing for me to up and kick a man's ass. Done it several times and I'll do it again if pushed. NEVER will I provoke, though. It is YOU that determines my actions. If you understand where I and the North Florida contingentare coming from and what is expected then we will have a great time and no problems will ever arise. Please understand that I am NOT coming to cause problems as that is the last thing on my agenda. It is a tradition and respect that Southern folks ahveand you need to realize this. We can laugh and have a good time but I just wanted to get a few things understood beforehand.

I hope all goes well and there are no problems and you enjoy your annual hunt here in North Florida, it really is a pleasure to have you.

things might be different where you are in florida, but here in GA we get a lot of florida hunters. to be honest they are the main ones responsible for blasting every young buck that walks out. just my opinion

not always, i have been in Georgia leases and we practiced QDM but did not get the caliber of deer we wanted because of the "locals" poaching the land when we were not up there.

Who the @#$% do you think you are? Last time I checked everyone in here was an ethical hunter to begin with!! I took several minutes out of my busy schedule and looked up your screen namebut somehow couldn't find it in the Florida Department of Fish and Game anywhere. And you should have payed close attention to your U.S. History teacher in High School because the civil war ended in 1865.Don't come in here trying to play the whole North Vs. South thing either. Maybe you should take a class at your local college in Cultural Diversity? You will see that most of our Northern traditions fall right in line with your Southerntraditions. Oh yeah...the Northern States doa pretty good job at managing their populations as well. I don't need to wastes hundreds of dollars to come to FL to hunt deer. If I came to FL for anything it would be to claim an ole Osceola Longbeard! And as far as threatening everyone in here....this is possibly the most idiotic post I have seen since coming to Hunting.net! Alot of people talk a good game but seldom deliver. I'm sure there are many folks in here including me who are capable of instituting a good country @$$ whipping as well. And just a little side note...to demand respect is ignorance at it's best. You have to earn respect in life to get respect and coming in here barking is not the way to do it. If you would like more free lessons in becoming less ignorant I am here all week. To all of my fellow Southern Countrymen....God bless us all. If I wanted to shoot a German Shepard sized Deer with a huge rack I wouldn't waste my time and go all the way to pan handle Florida thats for sure.An old man once told me "You can boil them horns all you want but it will never make soup." He can shoot his 12pt german shepards till kingdom come. I will take a huge bodied 6pt over them any day.

Got to the 3rd paragraph and realized your waaaaay too much of an ass to have written anything worth reading past that , so Ill just give my reply and move along.

1) Its 2008 and the "yanks" won the war 150 years ago(unfortunately) so get over it.

2)I know from 1st hand experience, there are spike shooters in south as well as the north, so give up the "were better than you" crap.

3) QDMA is BS anyway. Stop drinking the outdoor channel koolaid.

4)Ill go anywhere in this great country and shoot whatever the law allows and my heart desires, and you'll do nothing about it.

5) Ive never met a guy who talked tough(especially on the internet), in my life, and actually was, so save your breath, you aint scaring anybody.

When you say "Yanks" are you referring to actual Northerns? becasue just about everyone is north of you besides your fellow statesmen. Im from VA and I am way north, but im not a Yank either.

Listen, if its public land or land I am allowed to hunt andits legal then itsthe Florida game commissionI make that decision and not you. Its people like you that start the whole North vs. South thing and get peoples feathers all ruffled up.

BTW how do you know what your shooting at with dogs chasing them around?
It seems QDM is practiced alot with deer running by you at 40mph!

That's good old fashion southern hospitality. I'm originally from Ga, and never once thought about heading further south to get bigger deer. Normally, it's the other way around.

I don't practice QDM on my land, but if you have a track of land and want to practice QDM on it then that's great. But, if we're talking about public land here, you have no say over what other people take as long as it's legal. If a guy shoots a spike or whatever on public land, and it was taken legally, then you should be happy for their success.

Guys, just do exactly as he says. Give him what he wants. Shoot the only biggest bucks you can in the greatest possible numbers. If he wants spikes protected, then leave him spikes. Shoot the trophies like he wants you to do.

Well since I am from the NE and reside in NC nowI have noticed that most of these Southern boys around here do just the opposite of what you preach. Most of the young bucks are killed at 1.5 yrs of age or less. Good luck in your crusade and be careful your cape doesn't get caught up on the Beggar Lice.

Wow i got drawn for a non res tag down there. Guess what im coming down there and shooting anything brown. I dont care if its a spike, doe, or old mossy horns himself, if its brown, its down. :D. JK. But if i was to hunt down there, id shoot what was available. just goes to show that some of you southerners are stuck in the Big Buck Phenomena that means absolutely nothing to anyone. I used to live in Fla myself and to be honest....i never saw a deer worthy of not being shot. Its all meat in my book. ;)

WELL, ALL I HAVE TO SAY, to all you carpetbaggers around the country, is stay out of NY!!! This is my state and I wont tolerate anyone else on MY public or private land ,trying to kill any of MY deer, theyre MINE, ALL MINE:D
