I need HELP!!
Okay guys dont put me on the spot with my question. I just wanted to know what is the difference between just a regular .270 and a .270 short magnum? Is the short mag. more powerful than just the regular or what? I Need some help guys, IM planning to shoot one of these two guns for deer next season. THANKS!

RE: I need HELP!!
The short mag is a shorter bullet than the regular one. It also is a faster bullet (fps)with a little better trajectory. A faster bullet, meaning it won't drop quite as much atlonger distances. It's not a huge difference though. Just a little faster and flatter.I have a Browning A-Bolt WSM. I shoot the130 grain silver ballistic tip.

A box of cartridges will cost twice as much for the short, and there isn't as good of selection available. A regular .270 is a dang good deer rifle and topped with a quality scope is all you would need.

Actually there are 270 short mag "cartridges" out there. They are not "bullets." They all take the "same"
bullet of the same diameter. The Winchester WSM being one. Which by the way is based off a different parent "case" than the 270 Winchester. The 270 Winchester is a fine round. It's been around a long while and it's done very well on all sorts of game.
