Scientific studies have shown moon transit adn /or overhead/underfoot postion of the moon is NOT correlated with above normal deer sightings or deer activity. All the scientific studes and deer activity graphs show that deer movement/activity peaks withn a couple of hours of sunrise and sunset, no matter where the moon is, or what phase it is.

You can rely on that nonsense if you want to - but you will be missng a LOT of good huting times.

transit sits right on top of sunrise anyway... so it can't hurt me this year...

In most cases' count on missing out on the buck of your dreams then. All things being equal, I don't care how great of a hunter some people here like to think themselves as, bottom line, it's the right place at the right time, and the more time you spend in the woods, the better chance of that happening.
Why should his hunt be any less special if a big buck doesn't come by while he is hunting? He has two days to hunt deer. He can have a great time without seeing a buck of a lifetime. Why undervalue a nice doe?

CHAZ: go back and read his post. He simply stated he intended to hunt a few hours and what were his best chances, in our opinions. I gave him my opinion. I never mentioned ' A buck of a lifetime ", nor did he say he just wanted to shoot a doe.I didn't realize that he was looking to make this hunt "special" You said it, he didn't. If you read my posts throughout the past year, you will note that I believe it doesn't require taking an animal to have a "special hunting " experience.

If he had asked, in your words, " how do I have a great time hunting ", I would have given him a much different answer.

I have at least three deer to shoot this year... I'd like one decent buck, but I'm not too worried... we're not SHORT of deer out here, thats for sure.

Lincoln Nebraska... hunt in north and central nebraska most of the time... my parents have 80 acres southeast of town about 20 miles that we are slowly developing into habitat.
