MILKING deer for all they are worth, RIDICULOUS!

RE: MILKING deer for all they are worth, RIDICULOUS!
I am going to have to go with TxCowboy on this one. If I was offered up my 15 minutes of fame and a bundle of cash, I certainly wouldn't pass it up. Yes the guy got lucky even making the shot, got lucky that the farmer found it. So what, 90% of hunting is luck! I shot what I consider 2 trophey deer this year. If someone were to ask me how big they were before I found them I would have honestly said... I do not know. If I concentrated on the rack then I would have not gotten either deer!

I agree with all that TX has said. There is nothing wrong with making a buck off of a buck! If I ever shot a record buck, it would be as TX said, an accident or luck, which is probably the way most record book deer are taken. I'm not knocking the skills used by these hunters but, the odds of seeing a world record deer are very slim!
As I said I don't have any problem with someone making money off these deer. This doesn't take anything away from hunting. What does look bad is that unfortunatly in hunting as in anything else, there is the nasty element of pure greed and dishonesty! Every year there are those that are caught cheating, trying to get an illegal deer or an altered rack into the record books. This is not only wrong, it is illegal! Over the last couple of years here in Texas, there have been a few people prosecuted for fraud, trying to get into the Texas Big Game Awards! If you remember a couple of years back, the guy (I won't mention his name, that's a whole 'nother can of worms!) Anyway, he claims a new world record, but then he did not have it officially scored. Some claim that he did not need the money or the publicity. Bull hockey! He figured out that the minute it was made official, he would be prosecuted for fraud, maybe even do a little jail time, as well as should be!
Sorry that this was so long. But my points are that there is nothing wrong with making an honest dollar, and 2. there is greed and cheating in every sport and in every part of life! So if this is the best argument against hunting that the anti's can make, then we won't have to worry about them! The slob hunters ( graphically glorifying the kill, not the art of hunting) and the poachers (who are not "hunters" to begin with!) are doing way more harm to our sport than the "pro" hunter is !

buckmagnet, i hate to say it but i agree with you . i went to the web site and laughed at this mighty bowhunter that we all should admire and strive to be like him. deer hunting is a lot of luck of being at the right place at the right time . he wont get any money from me. i remember when milo hanson killed his buck. i read an article and saw him on tv. the man was just a deer hunter normal and didnt act like or portray to be better than anyone else. in an article they said the deer was hanging in his barn . the rack and head were just out there in the cold . he didnt realize he had a world record. it wasnt until magazines got wind of the deer and saw it did he realize he had a record deer. i respect him even though he has made alot of money off the deer . i saw him at a show and percieved him to be just a guy that was lucky enough to kill a big deer. this guy zaft didnt just take a tit he's trying to take the herd. you know i am just as proud of my little arkansas bucks . when i get the chance to take a 16"to 18"8pt man i feel like milo hanson. and i hope i always do .

youre right duke i heard he said that. the man lost he's privacy now every year people want to now what hanson killed. oh he didnt kill anything to brag about . he lost his edge. hard to live up the so called pro hunters expectations that go kill bucks on tape that are more like pets. BUCKMAGNET the only thing that would have chapped you more i think is if he had killed it with a cross bow<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

What a cocky, arrogant, greedy....wait just thinking out loud.
That guy needs a taste of "Humble Pie".
His agent sure gave him a polished site.
Can't wait until his playing card comes out, or his Zaft dolls.
Good to see his agent made sure he mentioned all the manufactures.
Do they have archery tournaments in Canada?? No offense to Canadians, but isn't that like bragging about being a champion, or seasoned Hockey player in Afganastan??
The buck looks magnificent, the story stinks, the delivery stinks, and his attitude smells of a sports agent. What's hunting coming to?
By the way, it really won't matter what P&Y thinks, if it scores, was shot with a bow, who cares about P&Y, no one will.
Pretty disgusting!

Buck Magnet
Thanks for the link. It is nice to see a fellow hunter that was so successful. I don't think it is "ridiculous" to take advantage of the situation financialy.
After all if he didn't want to have it measured, and publisized, then lots of people would assume it was a fake right?

I am glad to hear that some people agree with me. I still don't see why anybody would want to be bombared by companies, people, .... I have heard that people who shoot possible world record bucks have death threats sent to them regularly. Well, Zaft must have a huge red bullseye on himself. First his page was done in a tacky manner. They portrayed him in a way as if he is an unbelieveable hunter. His "outdoors pose", come on, he doesn't have any right to take a picture of himself with the mount so it looks like he just shot the thing. He didn't recover the buck. His page seems to be bragging that his buck is better than the Johnson buck, look at the last page of the story. A comparrison page, DISRESPECTFUL. Sure, it is one hell of a big buck, but his sight isn't showing that, it is showing that he shot a big buck and he wants to sell you a replica. He wants the money. Am I missing something here, do you guys hunt in hopes of taking a world record buck just to make money, I hunt because I love it, not because I want a world record.
Good Luck This Season: Buck Magnet
P.S. Only Chuck Adams can sit at home and see deer so get into the woods. =;^)
