Never used it for a .270, but I get great groups out of my 30-06 with them. Are all of your screws tight, scope ok, etc?

havent tried the xp3 but have the 270 bar with boss
i shot a lot of different bullets before the 140 fail safes
my gun loves them. luckily i found some at sportsmans guide last fall and bought 3 boxes. good luck and i would love to know what you finally find that shoots as well as the failsafe.

Scope seems to be ok. I wish the morons at Winchester wouldn't have stoped making the Fail Safe. I think I'll try the 140gr. Hornady SST and see what happens. I did love my Fail Safe's!!!!!!!!

I know everyone wants newer and faster. My gun will not shoot fusions well, but loves fail safes and cor lokt. Shoot what works, the seer and your freezer will appreciate it!

As stated before try the Fusions. The XP3s to group near as well as the Fusions. Oh and get them in 165gr not 150 or higher than 165. The 165s are more accurate.

I agree with Buck Hunter 1, the only problem is Winchester no longer makes the Fail Safe the XP3 is it's replacement. If anyone knows where I can still buy the .270 140gr. Fail Safe PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do you think of Hornady SST 140gr. in a .270???

i tried hornady when sighting mine originally but cant remember which ones. its frustrating for sure.
i wish they would sale 5 bullet packs or something
gets very expensive trying bulletsthat just dont work with the gun. any time im some where that they sale ammo im always looking to see if they still have any old stock fail safes that they happened to still have not sold
maybe every one write winchester and complain ?

Is that a boattail design? Ive never had any luck w/ BTs . My Savage and remy seem to group best w/ plain old flat base bullets like corlocs and hornady interlock.. If your after deer sized critters, anything that pokes a decent hole though the vitals will do. With the price of ammo these days theres not much argument for a premium or fancy bullet for deer IMHO. Good luck.
