I said I'd post the anwers to the "Whitetail Deer Hunters Survey" held by T.R.Michels earlier this year.

There were over 600 participants. Including many people from here.

This is another follow up to the "Whitetail Deer Hunters Survey" held earlier this year, which some of you participated in.I said I'd post results and answersafterwards - sohere it is.

Are these posts a lead up to some book on the subject or something?

I'll be back and post the correct answer. I said I would - butbefore that -I thought I'd letyou see how many hunters have differing ideas on the subject, and obvioulsy they aren't all right.


According to T.R. - The reason WHY the correct answer is important is because IF you are seeing a particular buck on a semi-regular basis, and then you don't see it for a while, it may be bcause the buck is folowing an estrus doe. So - if you know how long a doe is likely to be in estrus - then you can either continue to huntfor that buck and maybe not see it, or feel confident that it will leave the doe (whendever she is out of estrurs) and begin hunting it again when he is likely to return to semi-normal activity.

I read in a deer biology book that it's 24-36 hours approximately.

According to the research done by Dr. Larry Marchinton, which is talked about on T.R. Michels' website, does can be in estrus from 24-76 hours.
