What caliber would you prefer?
no matter what the distance within 100 yards which caliber would you prefer?
personally i would take the 30-30 because it packs one hell of a punch all the way out to 100 yards. |
RE: What caliber would you prefer?
it does? of thosefive that casting rod would probably be my 4th or 5th choice out to 100
30-06 would be #1 for me of those choices.then the30-06 would be #2. and #3 would have to be the 30-06[&:].......you can see where im headed w/ this |
RE: What caliber would you prefer?
I voted for the 308. But that's because I have one. 30-06 would be a good choice too.

RE: What caliber would you prefer?
I'm a 36 fan all the way
|
RE: What caliber would you prefer?
I've killed, or seen deer killed with all of the above, My vote goes to .30-06, with the .30-30 a close second. But just my opinion. All are good for deer. what kind of animal are we talking about tho?
|
RE: What caliber would you prefer?
from my personal experiences, the .50 muzzle loader does more damage to a deer when hit than all of those other rounds mentioned combined.
|
RE: What caliber would you prefer?
Hey, where's the 270?......My choices in order would be 308, 30-06, 30-30, 50 cal ml and the 243 last.
|
RE: What caliber would you prefer?
The 30-30 would be my last choice, except maybe the muzzleloader. A .270 would be first.
|
RE: What caliber would you prefer?
You need an "any of them" choice because inside 100 yards I wouldn't care one way or the other.
They all will have more than enough energy at 100 yardsto kill any deer. The difference intrajectory, from the fastest to slowest, zeroed at100 yards will be nothing. A 150 grain 30-30 will be.3" high at 75 yards and the .243 with a 100 grain bullet will be .1" high at 85 yards. |
