Big Buck Down in KS!
 

Went out yesterday afternoon and set up on a secluded watering hole next to a bedding area and watched around 35 deer come right to the hole. I couldn't believe how many deer were up that early in the heat (85 degrees) Watched a 130 class buck at 200 yds but decided to pass and a couple of 120 inch deer. At about a half hour before shooting light was over this buck showed up at 70 yards and I let the Thompson/Center do the rest. Mainframe 8 point with a split brow tine, great mass and good spread. Only traveled fifty yards after the shot and piled up. Was hell getting him out of the bottom but was totally worth it. Only downside is that my buck hunting is over untill next year.....Slick heads watch out! September 23rd, first day hunting, what a way to start the season.

Wow, muzzleloader starts early for you guys. Our bow season doesn't open until the 1st (Oklahoma) and muzzleloader starts the last week of October.

Anyways, awesome buck!!!

Very nice Muzzy buck. I'd be proud to put my tag on him for sure. But,he's not 150 class I'm sad to say. I'd give him about 120 inches of bone. Add 16 inches of inside spread,and you'll end up grossing 136..... Takes a pretty special 8 point to hit the magical 150 mark. They are rare creatures indeed. I've seen the actual P&Y score sheeton the 8point pictured below. Tremendous mass,combined with good tine length and spread. He netted 148. Congrats on a fine buck!

Im not trying to make this buck sound bigger than he is, but he does have an inside spread of 19 inches, and around 130 inches of bone. He had good mass with five inch antler bases, four inches of mass between the first and second point and ten inch g2's and 24 inch main beams.....If I add correctly this puts him in around 140-145.....not trying to show off, but the mass is what helps this deer score better.

First off congrats on a great early season buck! Very, very nice.

I don't think anyone thinks you would go on the net with a pic and intentionally try and make him out to be bigger. Just maybe made some judgement errors. To add another in perspective. Here's an Ontario monster 8 which I helped drag out. Huge deer feild dressed around 250. My buddy is a very big guy with big hands. You can see this buck has mass that hejust gets around at the base. Also very wide. Can't remember but over 20. Anyway, this is a 130 class 8 pointer. Gross was under 140 at 138 I think. Net was around 132 or something like that.



Who cares however! A wallhanger KS! Enjoy!

I think he prolly 130's w/ spread, this deer should of lived for another two or three yrs he had awesome potential, kills me people dont give deer a chance to mature. This is a ks 8 point that i let walk three yrs in a row and now look at him
