RE: wind question

I don't mind wind and since I like to still hunt I can use it to my advantage. I don't like really strong wind though especially during rifle season in the northeast. Too many large limbs (widow makers) and trees come crashing down to be safe. When it is like thatI stay in camp, drink beer and play cards.

i still go out and try and hunt. one year i skipped our homecoming dance cause our school scheduled it on the same day as opener of bow season. it was one windy day i stayed until it started thundering and lightning later on then i figured it was a good sign to leave

RE: wind question

One time I went bowhunting in early afternoon intending to sit for about five hours till dark. Around 4pm a storm blew in so suddenly, I never saw it coming. It was just like a wall of wind. I imediatly lowered my bow and hunting backpack. I Started coming down my tree in my climber when the rain hit. I ended up jumping, and yes, I went back and measured the next day, about 11.5 feet to the ground. I grabbed my stuff and took off running to the 4 wheeler, I thought I was gonna die. No idea how fast those winds were, but sometimes its best to just get out of the woods.

If the wind is steady at 20+ I don't waste my time.

I forgot to add that I don't care what direction it's coming from when it's just an average wind speed. I don't hunt the wind at all. Where I hunt the deer don't freak at the moment of a new scent hitting their nose.

i absolutley love indy days. espeially when its nasty sharp ind that stings your fae. unofortable, yes but produtive as hell up here in the big woods. as a traker or a stillhunter i love it. the wind is whippin in every diretion and the deer ant really pinpoint you too well. its bloing all these forien smells from all diretions and it masks your noises. ive killed some of my biggest bare ground buks on really windy days. but, im not a stand hunter either

swirling winds are by far the worst to hunt.

you obvously arent a tracker nor a stll hunter. swrlng winds work so such and advantage tracking and stillhunting it almost isnt fair to the deer
