i think it depends on how good of a hunter you are. if your experienced hunter it shouldnt make a difference. because an experienced hunter knows that if you are up in a tree stand ur out of site and your smell is up in the air above the deers nose. but if you hunt the ground the expeerienced hunter knows that its good to have a blind, and good cover cents and ect....

You can be successful hunting on the ground, you just have to have your hunting skills down. Scent, noise and movement must be controlled! Good head-to-toe camo is a must, but hunting the wind is most important, because it is impossible to be totally scent free!
I have been face to face with deer several times, so it can be done. It is a very exciting experience!

Ground blinds are good. But I tell you what, if you are on the ground you best your GAME ON or be lucky. I also hunt from the ground alot, don' t use a blind.
Just COVER AND CONCEALMENT. NATURAL SURROUNDINGS WILL PREVAIL BEST.
Take your time, technique,experience,... it will come if you stay focused.
Good Luck

During rifle season I hunt almost exclusively on the ground. Due to the type of area that I hunt and the hunting pressure it actually is not that much, if any, of an advantage to use a treestand.

I have hunted from both ground and tree stand. The tree stand is easier, and there is less chance of scaring the deer. The ground hunt is more fun because you' re actually dealing with the animal face to face, and you need to use more hunting skills.

I have taken 97 Whitetails, 32 of them with a bow, and all from the ground. I don' t like heights! I do believe that I could have shot more deer from a tree stand. Just don' t like hunting from them.
