What do ya'll do when not hunting (JOB)
 

Just wonering what everybody does for a day/night job when not tracking the ever elusive whitetail. I am a registered nurse at the University of Michigan. I work in the Cardio-Thoracic-Vascular ICU. I do the night shift 7P-7A. been doing it for 9 years now.

Nuthin'.:) Actually, not quite true. I'm supposed to be retired, from teaching high school and doing geology. I still take on the odd project if I can have things my way;)and I worked mid May to mid July this summer. Now nobody can tempt me until after hunting season.

I am a Lic. Massage Therapist, work in a mountaineering store part time in summer, porter(sherpa) gear and in winter/spring I do research and development for a backcountry ski and snowboard company (climb mountains on a splitboard and snowboard down them all day). I used to be a pro. kickboxer,but, you can only take those shots for so long.

I have a governmet job as a heavy equipment operator for a large rural Water District full time, going on ten years. Aside from that I work part time at a gravel pit (20-30 hours a week thru the spring, summer, early fall) to afford the "best" in hunting equipment. The pit is also one of my best deer hunting spots.The Boss out there came to me a few weeks back and said "You know it's been 3 years and I have never given you a raise". I said..."You let me hunt out here thats good'nuff of a raise for me".

I work at Temple Inland. I and another fella run a corrugated rotary die cutter. In other words, we operate a big honkin machine that churns out cardboard boxes. Not very rewarding, but the pay is decent...

I work for a drilling contractor as a SCR/VFD Electrical Supervisor. I work here in Mexico 6 months a year, one month on and one month off. I recently started a ranch logistics company servicing the hunting ranch industry that I am hoping will be up and in full swing come the first of the year. We will offer several different services from land management (clearing, food plotting, sanctuaries, etc..), Wildlife biologist on staff to allow us to propose qualified management programs, Land mapping, Lodges, Metal outbuildingsand so on. We will pretty much cover anything that needs to be done on a hunting ranch to improve it.

I lead trail crews on National Forest and National Parks. Most recently I was on the Salmon-Challis National Forest in Idaho. Here is a bridge we built out on a hiking trail. More Photos

Currently I am a student teacher for 12 weeks, teaching sophomore world history.Once I am done with that I willgraduate with my degree in secondary education. After that I will be a high school social studies teacher. It really is interesting to see what type of people are on this board.

Technical support rep for an international household appliance manufacturer. I'm one of the guys that the Maytag man calls when he can't figure it out. Before that I was on the road fixing the machines. May not be very exciting but the money's not bad and I get to work from home.
