Actually where I am most people hunt on leases and usually find one by word of mouth and some people actually put openings in the papers. You can also go to you DNR web site to find public lands to hunt. Hope this helps.

My first two years I hunted public land (WMA). Then I joined a hunt club. A buddy of mine found it and we joined together.

Drive around and when something looks good, go up to the door and ask permission. You may get turned down or you could be the only 1 who has asked. A thing I did was research. I went to our courthouse and got a plat map (shows who owns what and where they live). Then I did a aerial search of the land. Put 2 and 2 together and you may have a piece of land. Courtesy is the key word.
