Quick Poll: Favorite Deer Camp Beverage
 

Recently, a non-hunting friend of mine (okay, I'llconfess to having a couple of friends who don't hunt) was rehashing the old stereotype of hunting camp being filled with drunks. I went on to explain that his view was just that: a stereotype.

But I will admit that I know a few folks, including myself, who do enjoy kicking back with the boys and having a few after the hunt while telling stories of the days hunt, relating the tale of the one that got away, or how peeved we were that we did not see any deer. During such interludes, I think I've seen every type of beverage imbibed: beer, whiskey, brandy, Mountain Dew, Coke...even an odd Mr. Pibb and once a martini!

So let's hear it: what is your favorite post-hunt hunting camp beverage? If beer, whiskey, or some other fortified drink, what is your brand of choice?

Tell your non-hunting friend to come down here to NC and hunt with me for a week...
Last year we killed 46 deer, 18 in one week...You can't skin and drink at the same time...

Tell him I need a skinner....:D

I'm 52...Don't drink much at all anymore...I'll drink maybe 2 six packs of beer a year...
When it comes to whiskey....I drink George Dickel, white lable...I buy it by the half
gallon...The one I have stashed away down in the basement is over 2 years old, it's
got another year in it....

With meals -- iced tea

Otherwise -- coffee / hot chocolate.

Most anything non alchoholic .
Unless the hunt is over and we have one hanging .
Then we have a Mich. Lite ......[8D]

Usually Sweet Tea (yes, I'm a Southerner) or a Fruit Punch Gatoraide.

I only partake whenmy buck is on the ground, and then it would be Killian's Irish Red. I've gone a long time with out drinking. I'm due!

Miller lite, can only too. There's nothing like sitting around a warm campfire and hearing all the old timers tell stories. It never gets old to me, it is a tradition.

Im also a big fan of energy drinks, Monster and Full Throttle in particular.

It depends, sometimes beer, sometimes diet coke or pepsi. Most often coffee. That's not to say on Saturday evening we don't partake of something stronger, no Sunday hunting in PA.

water or diet Mountain Dew. One of the guys at camp makes his own wine. Not being much of a drinker I will "on occasion" have a small glass after the evening meal.

Ice cold pepsi. If I drink something alcoholic it would be a couple of ice cold beers eh. But not more than 2 because I'll be in the stand an hour and a half before sun up the next day. Your buddies must have heard the steriotypical hunter stories from other non-hunters.

Strong BLACK coffee in the morning, water and Gatorade during the day, chamomile tea at night. No alcohol for me. I'm Cherokee, Mohawk and Irish. The only thing I like to do more than hunt is fight! ;)

Coffee in the morning, Gatorade on the stand, cans of Bud light/Busch light when the hunt is over. Nothing like a cold beer when the hunt is done for the day. I have a bud light t-shirt I wear on opening day that says,"When the hunt is through, this buds for you." It's my lucky t-shirt. Also have a tradition with a couple buddies, we have a bottle of whiskey that whenever we get a buck, we do a shot. Bottle is ONLY opened after a buck has been killed. A tradition we started a few years back. It's a bottle of Bullet whiskey. Don't drink that brand of Whiskey unless its out of the "Buck bottle". I like to think of the taste as the taste of sweet success.

I usually don't drink at night when I'm hunting. I like to be as alert as possible in the morning.

Water when I am hunting, Jim Beam or Basil Haydens straight with a chaser around the fire. When the snow flys some coffee and irish cream whiskey can warm the soul. Just remember to save the booze for post hunt celebration, drinking while hunting can end in a tragedy and shouldn't be done.

AM, before going out: Coffee and orange juice.

During the day: Diet Pepsi, Mountain Dew or Ice Tea

Evening: Budweiser


In 2006, the day time drink was Diet Pepsi :D

Mountain Dew in morning and in the stand and Bud Light after the hunt. If I get one its Bud Light no matter what time of day it is.

I do drink, but neverduring hunting. I just don't like the idea of being around a bunch of guys who are drinking and have access to firearms.;)

Nothing refreshes like good 'ole ice water. Iced milk is also a camp favorite.

But of course all kills are celebrated with a cold bud light.

No alcohol allowed.

Diet RC is the beverage of choice where I work and hunt (my farm). Some of the in-laws step it up a little and drink diet Coke. The young guys drink milk in the mornings. If I did that there would be no deer or anything else downwind for 1/2 mile or more.
