Default Chronic Wasting Disease - On the Increase or Decline?

I was just reading the 2008-2009 Kentucky Hunting Guide and they had a special section in there about Chronic Wasting Disease. They said it had been found in 14 states and 2 Canadian provinces, but not in Kentucky yet. They included guidelines on what to watch for. Is CWD spreading and on the increase or is it on the decline?

It is on the increase...In wv, we have a on going study of it's spread...it is growing ever so slightly it seems..All deer killed within the area in wv it has been found, gets tested for it....they also do sampling throughout the year..each year the number of infected deer have increased...sorta a scary thought...most states do not have anytype of testing program..the problem could be bigger than it seems..even wv only tests near the area it was first found...Alot of studies are pointing the finger at high fence/ deer farming places for the reason of the spread...in wv they have just started a new law that deer farming fences must be at least 10ft high...

it is very slowly increasing...just recently here in central illinois thay have outlawed salt licks and stuff like that because CWD can be spread through saliva. in northern illinois and wisconsin there have been few cases the past 3 years but it seems that with every new case, it is spreading further and further south-inch by inch
