Don't watch them, I own a few Real Tree DVD's but that's about it. I actually get the outdoor channel or whatever it is now but I have probably only watch like two shows in a few months. I like the firearm shows, but don't watch the hunting or fishing shows.

I enjoy quite a few of them, but I take them for what they are: entertainment, nothing more. I am not a trophy hunter, but I still enjoy watching shows about big bucks. I could do without the cut away shots of the shooter taking aim that are obviously so fake, but most of the time I can just ignore that stupidity and enjoy the show. As far as commercial interruptions, and there are a lot, well, that's why the DVR and the fast forward button were invented. :D

I still say that the Doctor Death Show starring Doctor Death ...produced by Doctor Death and directed by non other then Doctor Death would be a GREAT show ...of course thats JUST my humble opinion :D

ORIGINAL: bayou_buckslayer i like em depends on the show i just dont like the commercials constantly the only thing i dont like about the shows is when they show the animal die i dont mind them showing the hit without it the show would be stupid it isnt always like that in some cases its a drop dead kill or a runaway in the woods and find kill personally i dont mind watching the animals die cause i see it all the time when i go hunting it doesnt bother me its just the impression it makes on others (non hunters) i was watching a hunting show one time and they shot a bull elk it ran down the hill started rolling on its back struggling and some of my relatives couldnt bear it they turned their heads away from the tv didnt mind it but i just thought about the impact it would make on a anti hunter or a animal lover to see it and it would make them think were heartless killers (which were not) as i said its doesnt bother me they just dont have to record it for the sake of watchers of the show just my opinion..........oh and nice to see somebody from Louisiana on huntingnet! i hunt inRuston Louisianabut live in North Louisiana |

They're mostly all nothing but commercials, but they get hunting out there and get it seen and heard. Think about it. Without these sponsors there would be no hunting shows. As for me, I can stand sitting through the sales pitches to enjoy some hunting on TV and maybe get a non-hunter into the field.

Just watched an episode of "Real Trees Pro Hunters Journal" and they showed footage of Lee Lakoskys "big brow tine buck" being taken. This time, instead of being in his tent blind, he was in a tree stand, with the camera focusing in on his TC arms encore with the BDC reticle (special sticker on scope to be more visible). I just find it amusing how the majority of hunting shows have become one big infomercial, and recycle footage from a good show to do so.

One of my favorites.
TV crew and our "hunter" are whispering about where they are in the wilderness, how far away they are from civilization and what they expect to see. In the background you can not only see but hear traffic. They are on some plot of 400 acres, which in CO isn't enough to park your car on let alone wilderness. All the shots are perfect, all the animals near trophy class and all the equipment is new. Doesn't sound like the kind of hunting I grew up knowing. TV hunting shows are to hunting....what professional wrestling is to sports. |
