Here in Illinois, you either hunt with a Slug gun or a Muzzleloader and I know what one has proven itself to me as the better "rifle"..... my Encore Pro Hunter 209x.50. The incredibly consistent groups that this firearm can print amazes me when compared to a shotgun! Coupled with my Nikon with BDC reticle I am shooting better and at longer ranges than I ever imagined I could at an IL deer!

I will be hunting with my T/C Encore .50 cal as well, definately in GA and also in Illinois if I get a tag. This gun is way more accurate than I would ever be with a shotgun. 200 yards may be very possible for me.

hunting in IL, you really wouldnt want nothin BESIDES a muzzleloader because of how flat the state is, and that can get dangerous real fast, im glad there are no high powered rifles allowed in here for deer

Two years ago I got an Encore 50 Cal. stainless. I haven't had my shotgun out of the safe since. By far more acurate.

TC Omega 50. 90 grains of loose powdertopped with a250 grain bullet. Mild recoil, great accuracy out to at least 150.
Love the smoke

My CVA Optima is the only gun I use for deer. I believe you only need one shot to kill a deer. Not to mention muzzleloaders are very fun to shoot.
