the MOST amazing place ive ever been, 8 out of 8 people shot a bull over 320 and the ponds are full of trout , you literally catch one on every single cast, plus the quail hunting and the hired cook from germany, absolutely amazing

haha, that's great, and they better!
Personally I love the idea of drawing a great tag....and then either DIY or getting a guide/outfitter and taking a huge bull on public land...hunted the Gila in NM last year, didn't get a bull, but it was a great experience. Eventually the tides will turn...
I've seen some elk websites.....with trophy fees.....you'd better hope you don't shoot a 350+ at those places, would cost you an extra $12,000 or more...
also love the 380+ "negotiable"

Also is it just me, but don't when you go hunting, kinda want to rough it? spending another 5k....for comfort seems like a why bother? I don't want a spa experience when I go hunting....
A nice lodge is one thing, but a wall tent in the high country is in many ways better IMO.

I have Elk hunted in New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming,Montana, and Idaho.
Out of those states New Mexico is the easiest terrain with some huge bulls. Colorado is some of the hardest country because of the elevation but you will see elk there are alot of them there. Wyoming the best places to hunt is in the wilderness so you need a guide. Montana is not that bad to hunt big bulls elevation is ok .Idaho I hunted in the Selway It is not that high but it is steep and deep timber. One of the hardest hunts of my life. Will not repeat.

RE: Dream Elk Hunt Location?
A friend of mine's wife gave him an elk hunt for a birthday present a couple of years ago. I think it was in Colorado. He is about 56, from Northwest Florida, worked out, and did a LOT of walking prior to his trip. He said after chasing that crazy guide for about a day and a half he was ready to come back home. The thin air and terrain was too much. He said he wouldn't go back if they guaranteed a monster bull elk. Miserable trip.
