I would think that it would depend on the particular area of the state rather than the state itself. If you end up living right across the road from some off-the-beaten path public ground in a not-so-good state, it would probably be just as good as living 2 hours away from public ground in a great state. Also, land values vary greatly from area to area, even within states. In some places you could very well afford to buy your own land, which would be great even if the deer hunting is not as good as another area..

I have hunted SC. It is nothing to write home about. The liberal bag limits = no qdma (in most areas). North Carolina has a nice climate but the deer are smallish and most shoot anything that moves around here. I know you will be better served for deer hunting in the midwest.

I'm glad everyones avoiding Nebraska. Gives me a little more comfort knowing nobody cares about our puny 5x5's. I guess I'll just have to settle on going after them all by myself. Oh, and if you're worried about tornadoes in this area, they only last a few minutes then there gone.

i would say those are great choices, with fairly cheap land prices, and got some giant bucks.

I've got an idea. With the money i save here i could afford to buy a small place over there (get double for the dollar)

According to some on this forum, you didn't list the best state to hunt whitetails.....that is Canada of course, eh. More specificly Sask. and Manitoba. Bow hunting starts lst week of Aug. Still nice weather at that time of the year.
