Default Hunting Lease ?

How many of you lease hunting ground? What state, # of acers and what do you pay per acer? I am trying to get an idea of what to offer land owners with farm ground here in Ohio for hunting deer and turkey on their land!

I lease a property in Texas that is 1100+ acres and am paying 9 dollars an acre, we have several different species to hunt: turkey, hog, whitetail, axis, fallow, audad, sika, just to name a few, not to mention all kids of varmints. We can hunt year round for the exotics, hogs and varmints. This property also has a camp house with running water but does not have electricity (we use generators when needed). This is a really good deal where I live for all the hunting it offers.

From $7 to $10 per acre in South Alabama is about normal, but I've heard of some areas as high as $25 per acre.

300 acres in Arkansas. $4.25/acre on one lease and $2.50/acre on the other. The lower lease is because we deal directly with the landowner and don't put any permanent structures on it.

I couldn't imagine paying over $5 a acre, but I guess location is everything. Here in southern WV in one of the bow-only counties I lease over 3500 acres at $2 an acre.

Sorry, can't help you on this one. There is approximately 17,000,000 acres of forested land in Maine, and a very big %age of it is owned by the paper companies, and is free to hunt on.

Sorry!
