What are the biggest deer hunting nuisances? Mine has to be red squirrels. The locate me, look me straight in the eye, and proceed to screetch "he's here, he's here" in squirrel language to everything in the forest. At that moment I want all red squirrels on the planet to die horribly and painfully. (The feeling passes, usually sometime in March)
Anyway, if you don't have red squirrels, what's your biggest deer hunting nuisance?

Reds and foxes are different squirrels, I`m not sure how many states have red squirrels? Some people call them pine squirrels. They are smaller than greys, and they are obnoxious!

I understand, nny243! I'm made a promise to a certain squirrel this year, during deer season. I'm definitely going squirrel hunting this year! It's going to be my best year ever - after all, I made a promise...<img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle>

My arch enemy is the wood thrush. It is a small reddish-brown bird with a spotted breast. Once they find me up in the tree they chirp and call in every other thrush in the county. Waving your arms does no good, they chirp more. Fortunately they are only around in the early season.

Yeah, red squirrels have to be the most annoying. I have a ladder stand and a climbing stand. When in the ladder stand, they would jump on it and scratch their claws on the metal steps. In my climber, they seem to try to get as close to me as possible. A pine squirrel and red squirrel are the same thing. A fox squirrel is a VERY large squirrel that appears to be a cross between a grey squirrel and a red squirrel. Flying squirrels are another bad one. They are all SPAWNS OF SATAN! Hahahaha.
Good Luck This Season: Buck Magnet
P.S. Only Chuck Adams can sit at home and see deer so get into the woods. =;^)

I do the same thhing with a squirrel as I do a deer as soon as I see one in the area I freeze and dont move. If they bust you no deer is going to come near. Also I have noticed them barking at approaching deer many times. They make good warning devices.

Those squirrels- around here we call em "fairydittles"- Stay around pines alot. And are noisy little buggers, Reg squirrels will run and hide, not these critters , they get out on a limb facing you and challenge you. Some of the stories ive heard they do to fox squirrels- well how does a eunich become a eunich? Think its just old timer myths anyway.
