If you have ever noticed, when the squirrels are moving well the deer are too. This is one reason I don't mind them too bad.

i cant stand tree rats and chipmunks!!! o man they run by...and see you then sit there and bark at you...and the munks sit there and chirp soooo loud!!! i cant stand them!! thats why i try to clean tree rats from my deer hunting area b4 deer is in...never got a nick outa the population!

Squirrels and turkeys are definitely a pain,
but how about CHIPMUNKS! For as little as they are, they can cause a lot of commotion.

A round here squirrels are bad,but chipmunks are really annoying....chasing each other around..

I sometimes carry a slingshot, but always carry my squirrel call. It can be used to produce barks and baby squirrel in distress calls. It usually shuts 'em up. But I'm careful to look around well before resorting to the call.

I have used squirrels to my advantage, especially their bark. On more than one occasion a deer has spotted me, flagged and left the area. I wait a few seconds and then give out with a bark. After a few chatters, I just wait quietly. Three different occasions the deer (all three does) turned and continued on their previous trail, right past me. Two times I took them as they were the first deer of the season. The third I let walk as I was looking for a certain buck. A bark seems to calm a flushed deer into thinking that a squirrel caused them to take flight and they then resume their normal way.

I made a deal with a paticular squirrel this year. Every night i hunted this one stand he would climb up the tree next to me and the stop when he got eye to eye with me so i told him if you dont give me away i wont shoot you.I kept my end of the bargain and so did he:)
