RE: Which Caliber?
Had my .270 for almost 30 years and can' t see any reason to change. If it won' t do the job, I don' t want to mess with the critter.

RE: Which Caliber?
I do love the 270 as it is perfect for most jobs. My 270 is on steroids as it is a 270 weatherby mag and LOVE LOVE LOVE it. BUt I also love no LOVE the 7mm lines too.

RE: Which Caliber?
I shot my first few deer with a 7mm remington mag with 150gr bullets. It worked like a sledge hammer, never lost a deer, never had a deer take a step. I then got a Browning 243 at a good price and decided to use it. Shot a nice deer at 280 yards, both shoulders, watched it drop in its tracks. It was nice to be able to see the bullet hit through the scope, never could do that with the 7mm. Well that about did it for my 7mm, after that I used the 243 for all my deer hunting, even sold the 7mm. I use fed prem 100gr SBT and have killed 11 deer with 11 shots, never lost a deer never had one go more than 25 yards and watched the impact on all of them.

RE: Which Caliber?
Right now I would say 30-06, but I just bought a 300 ultra mag. So I might be changing my mind in October.

RE: Which Caliber?
Uh, 30 would be my favorite caliber. Thet is what you meant isn' t it? Grandaddy allays said you should take a man at his word. So 30 is my favorite caliber, follered by 35 and then 45.
