Default how many stands and food plots is enough?

This year i have made a decision. I am going to have numerous spots to hunt. I have 35 acres of woods of open field. would putting up 2 stands and 2 blinds be to much? also is making 2 food plots to much?

shoot thats 4 spots cover north ,south, east, west ,with the 2 stands and 2 blinds
and 2 plots somewhere in the middle and you are good to go .
Alot depends on the layout of the 35 acres and whats surrounding it[8D]

so you dont think having 2 plots will cause the deer to spread out to much?

No, its more likely to make them move more(atleast bucks in november). Thats a good thing. 4 stands might not be enough. Just depends. More stands you have, the more you can hunt with the wind and keep from making the deer spooky by overhunting. That might be tough on 35 acres though.

you can never have enough stands/blinds
and i think 2 on only 35 acres, as long as your not clearing any ground is fine

It really depends on the layout of the 35 acres. Is it flat, hilly, square, etc. I would have stands setup where the deer travel and feed. If I can cover and see the activity on the 35 acres from two stands then that is enough. If I need 8 stands to rotate and cover all the travel routes then that is enough. It really depends on the layout of your property.

As far as the food plots, I don't think you can go wrong there. It depends on the size of your food plots and again the layout and cover on your property. You can use food plots to draw deer from neighboring properties. But without knowing your property layout it's tough to say.

yeah well i have a lot of mixed terrain like huge hills, open fields, thivk woods, open woods, a creek so pretty diverse area
4 things to ask:
is there a good plot to plant on land that isnt very flat?
is it good to hunt near funnels and if so how far away from them?
where the deer are traveling now heavily will they be traveling there next year?
would it be good to have 5 setups?

anyone have google earth? i could show you the land on their

I have google earth. Your choice for a food plot should be something unique to the area. So if your area has corn and alfalpha readily available. Beans or Brassica might be a good choice.

I currently have 9 stand locations on my 42 acres. You can't have too many stands in my opinion. You need to be able to hunt the wind. Deer movement patterns will change over the course of the hunting season. Available food and hunters on neighboring properties will all effect deer movement. You want to able to move to where the deer are as their patterns change.

As far as food plots, that depends on how they fit into the overall management plan for your property.
