RE: how many stands and food plots is enough?
You can never have enough stands. Many times we will put two stands on a food plot or shooting lane on opposite side so that we can hunt the wind or keep the sun on our backs to be harder to see.

RE: how many stands and food plots is enough?
I agree with Ruger, however, it is important to not change the environment too much, too often, or at the wrong times. A deer will notice something new very easily and be walking on egg shells when something is out of the ordinary, especially a ladder stand or ground blind that doesnt look natural.
That is why scouting is important, look at where the sun is going to be in the mornings and sunsets so its not in your eyes, and most importantly, as Ruger said, take the wind in consideration so that you can hunt the same spot, just at a different angle when the wind is in your favor. If you look at my picture in the previous post you will see that I have scouted these areas out and know the exact tree that Im going to put my stand in and will be in there weeks before the season so the deer will get aclimated to however I make the surroundings. If you do change your stand location in mid season, do it on a Sunday or on a day that its raining so it will cover your scent and give it a day or two to blend in. Especially on an area the size of what you explained. There is not a whole lot of mixing it up with 35 acres. My suggestion would be to get in there well before season and get your stands where you want them. The more the better, but know where your trails, lanes, scrapes and rubs are and stay in those areas. |
