Im thinking about going out to Kansas next year to try some deer hunting on public land...but the problem is, there is so much public land out there and I wouldnt know where to start on picking a zone to put in for. What do yall think are some better counties for public land hunting? Anybody had any luck with private land hunting out there?

no deer in kansas, nothing to see here lol seriously though, the only public area I'm familiar with is Byron Walker Wildlife Area in Kingman county. There are several entrances off highway 54, the last couple years there didn't seem to be many vehicles parked at the entrances during the season.

there are lots of public land areas for out of staters.......my honest opinion is to not focus on public land but on the zones and draw statistics...if you really want to hunt in KS look at the tags you can get drawn for almost 100% of the time....then look at public land to hunt...just my opinion....private land can be good, but we actually saw more deer on public then on private this year..
