RE: What would you do?
ORIGINAL: virginiashadow So you would feel comfortable taking the ham shot after looking at this anatomy picture?

RE: What would you do?
Waiting for a gift: "Yes, I've already made up my mind, and yes it does make a difference that it's a trophy buck. The scenario I described is realistic for the way I hunt, and I've thought it through. I would never take that shot on an ordinary deer, but I've never shot a trophy buck, only seen a couple. I'm confident that a broadside shot to the ham with a rifle would put the deer down and I would take the shot. "
That is an irresponsible thought process. Look back through that paragraph and try to see the logic...there is none when you analyze it. If I owned the land that you were hunting and I found out that you were hunting like that, I would kick you off it. |
RE: What would you do?
The idea of aiming for a vein is rediculous, weren't we all taught better than this? I helped a member of our club trail a buck that he took a running shot at. The ground was covered in snow making the trailing pretty easy. After more than half a mile we saw so much blood that he should have bled out but he hadn't. We finaly jumped him and my buddy drilled him in the "poop chute". Turned out that the first hit was in the rear leg, the .35 remington not only hit a vein but blew his testicles off. This is not a good place to shoot any animal.

No. I would never take that shot.
