This from Winchester.com. The wsm is faster and flatter. I have the 7mm wsm and I love it.

Take a look at post on Remington model 700xcr in 270wsm first deer. I am getting a chronographed 3200fps factory 150gr.Winchester Power Point ammo.

not enough to make it worth buying both. i don't see the need for most short mags.

Not enough difference to argue over. If you are buying one or the other, I would would go with the 270 wcf for no other reason than ammo availability.

My brother has a 270 wcf, and his friend has a 270 WSM in the identical gun (Ruger M77 MkII stainless/synthetic). They sight in together every year and swear the 270 WSM recoils 50% more than the 270 wcf. This is based on their perception of the recoil and has absolutely no scientific basis.

Depending on where you live, availability of an assortment of different kinds of ammo and .270 Rem Core Lok at about $12 a box versus WSM at about $40 a box.

I shoot a Browning A bolt .270 short mag and love it. I do agree on the ammo options though. The only ammo I have ever been able to find here is the Win. ballistic silver tip wsm. I'm perfectly okay with it, but I would like to see what a different round would do. I have also found that the 130 grain does much better in my gun than the 150 grain.

As far as ammo is concern Ihave beenlucky that my 270wsm likes the 150gr. Winchester Power Points at $26.00 a box. Does not really matter to me because I am going to roll my own. I believe the 270wsm will out shine the 270win when you shoot the heavier bullet like the 150gr. More velosity with a higher BC bullets means flater shooting. Berger is comming out with a .277 cal. 130gr,140gr. and 150gr. all VLD style bullets. They haven't posted them on their website yet but will soon as Walt Beger gets back in town.
