Default LOUSY CANADIAN OUTFITTER

Went to Canada Hudson Bay area deer kill was 60 to 70 % from last winter(witch the guide did inform us until tuesday)and loaded with wolves. The outfitter never moved his stands
for 4 years, they were falling down didn't even have a rope to pull are gear
up,we had a 800 yd walk into stand by ourselves,no soda or drinks,or snacks, seats were old napa 5 gallon buckets for seats, the stands were ty
wired together and i had a down suit that is now filled with holes from the ty wire, and last butnot least,we got 1 142 " deer between 5 hunters
sitting dark to dark. door to door 5800.00 dollars.

Morale of the story,Get good and bad referances from any outfitter you are going to book with.

Needless to say anybody know if there is somewhere we can file a compliant agaist the outfitter ?[:-][&o][:@][:'(]

GOOD LUCK ALL !!!!!

I really would like to see the outfitter who would actually give a potential client a bad reference? I don't think such an animal exists in the outfitting business! One of the easiest ways in the world to get ripped off and then not be able to do JACK about it is to go on an outfitted hunt. Hunting with an outfitter is usually a crap shoot, and unfortunately you were on the losing end. Nothing you can do about it unless the outfitter committed some sort of game violations which you could report. Everything else is buyer BEWARE!

Thats probably why I will never take a hunting trip with an outfitter. Just not worth the risk of being treated like that spending my own hard earned money. Hope you get something worked out though.

We had an outfitter who used to advertise shamelessly around Texas a few years ago. I actually saw the guy out taking pictures on a private game preserve, then followed up later. Sure enough, he had those pictures from the game preserve as "examples" of the animals he knew how to find.

I've never used an outfitter, but wouldn't go to any unless I had a reference from someone I personally knew and trusted.

Sorry to hear about your outfitter. Seems to be a growing problem over the last few yrs. Iam from Canada and all I can say is I wrote a letter to the outfitters assocation about an outfitter and nothing was done. The outfitter thought he could hunt anywhere ( my land) and would give hunters a problem when he seen them on goivt land which anyone could hunt. I have very big wt on my place and he knew that and would trespass. His hunter shot a deer on my place and they went in a night and got it, I found out later. I host hunters and I treat them as family. They hunt from heated ground blinds and I try and give them a great hunt and it is theirvacation.

I hope you can get a word out about them and list there names so others wont have the same misfortune.

Good luck

Zigo I feel your pain brother ... I have hunted Canada 5 times ....two out of the five were all one could expect the others were a waste of money ....your right about getting both satisfied and unsatisfied references ....BUT the tactic that I use now I think works best at least for me .... when I find an area I want to hunt ...and narrow down the outfitters to just a couple ...this is what I offer .... I tell them that I will consider using their service ONLY if they agree in writing to allow me to come back the following year at half price or extend my hunt by 3 days at no chargeif I do not fire my weapon while hunting ... I make sure they understand the type of animal I am hunting for ... and what I expect in accommodations ...I tell them I feel that is a fair offerIF they have confidence in thier property AND in their guides ...I explain to them I would feel a lot more confident in using them if they have as much invested in my hunt as I do ...if they will not agree to those conditions then I go to the next Outfitter on my list ....this has worked several times for me ...maybe you should think about trying it .... here is a web site you can at least voice your complaint ... http://www.huntinfo.com/reviews/outfitter_reviews.php3?outfitter_search=alberta&am p;state_filter=&submit_action=Go

Just my opinion but I wouldn't spend one dime on any outfitter. I've got it too good right here in good ole Illinois. Have I harvested a monster buck yet that I might be able to using a outfitter? Nope, Maybe my time will come.....maybe not.
