There both great deer cartridges. Both have prettymild recoil, shoot accurate out of a lot of different rifles. Personally I think the 308 Win. is more alittle moreversatile becausethere is a wider range offactory ammo available for it. I'm not knocking the 7mm-08 Rem.at all. I'd use one in a heart beat. I do love my 308 Win. though! If I was looking for a deer rifle in7mm-08 or 308,my first priority would be finding a rifle I liked. Whether it was 7mm-08 or 308 would besecondary. That's just me though. You can't go wrong with either one. [/align]

7mm-08--- I been shooting a 7mm mag. for 30 years and love it. I have a 7mm-08 in the safe but just haven't scaled back yet.

I have the 7-08 andlove it.. But I say why not get both.. Eventlually.
