As I mentioned to some on one of my previous post, I would show the picture of my buck.
I came across this buck on a Thursday morning opening week at around 8:40. We had a miserable day on Wednesday with blowing snow and poor visibility and on Thursday morning I was going to stay in but my wife mentioned that it was beautiful outside so I decided to go for a walk, hunting that is.
I came a cross this buck while I was heading south toward my back 90 acres down a quad trail along a pasture and fence line. While I was walking I had noticed a crow had swooped down at something in the pasture on the west side and I decided to take a look with my binos. I saw this guy was heading my way and I couldn't believe it. I crouched down and looked at him from about 400 yards. He just kept coming and coming. He was heading for some big bush on the east side of the trail for heavy cover and only had that in mind. I placed my self on the side of the trail in a crouched position and figure he would stop and look before crossing and sure enough that’s exactly what happened. He jumped the fence took a couple of steps and placed himself within 60 yards quartering towards me. Before he could react after seeing me it was to late, I had the cross hairs on him and squeezed the trigger.
I took him out with my 7 mm-08 loaded with 140 gr. Fusion bullet. One shot did the job being that it was so close. It was a clean kill with no pursuit of any kind. Ended up heading back home to get my quad to bring him home.
I had him scored and he’s in the 150 class. Not to bad for a local deer around my house...

Very nice buck , but be ready for somebody to hammer you on having the tongue out in the pic. To me that does not degrade the photo or hunter in any way, its just the way it is.

Thanks guys.... This was my first real attempt for posting pictures...
I have to give credit to my bro, he had the idea of putting the buck in front of the quad. He just didn’t find you could tell how big this buck was with out any type of reference to something else...
Hey Mr. Duck, heading out this weekend. Should be a good weekend with all the snow we have. I can really see where the deer are traveling...
