So what if you shoot something bigger, mount the next bigger one also. I won't shoot a deer smaller than anything I have on my wall. I guess if I tracked one all day and finally got a shot at him, I might a drop a deer that was special like that. But as a rule I pass up shooting anything smaller than my best deer. I have had to let a few go, including a nice 8 this week because I didn't have enough time to evaluate him. But hell he'll probably be there next year.

Why are you asking us if you should put it on the wall? If you think it is a trophy hang him on the wall. Thats a great deer only you know the story behind it, and will be able to tell it years to come.

For me - it would be mounted -
My buck this year was also 16" inside (18" oustside) and its going on the wall (my 1st). The tines on my buck aren't quite as tall - but my buck this year was my best in 20+ years - so it was pretty special.
