Default My 8 year old son's first deer

This is my son's first deer killed 2 days after his 8th birthday. His rifle is a Ruger M77 Compact chambered in .260 Remington. She came out into the field about an hour after daylight. He shot her broadside at 90 yards. You can see the shot is a little low...but I think he did very well for an 8 year old. We spent the summer busting 6" ballons at 100 yards trying to get him comfortable settling the crosshairs and squeezing the trigger. He was pretty excited about his first deer, but near as much as I was.

That's awesome! That's what hunting is all about! You're right when you said you were more excited than he was. I know the feeling! We all want our children to be successful in what ever they do. Congrats!

Thanks for all the kind words guys. Can someone tell me how to post the picture directly into the thread? I've done it in other forums but can't get it to work here.

I know how you feel, my eight year old killed his first deer on opening day this year. I was more proud that day then any day that I killed a deer. I was a special day when he turned and said I think I hit her, concidering the doe was laying in the ditch just out of his sight, I told him I think you did.
