hunting in the rain is a good stratagy.

RE: Hunting in the rain.....
Like the Taz says, the deer will move unless it is a virtual downpour. The only problem is trying to keep yourself comfortable while out there. The only type of hunting I do is self climbing and when you put up a tree you plan on staying several hours so stay at home on those days the weather forecast calls for torrential downpours. It would really be nice if the manufacturers would lower the price of Goretex. If they would I could throw away my old rubber.

I do like hunting in a light rain or drizzle or mist(without fog.I have walked up on a lot of deer in the rain. I've also had several deer walk or run up to me in the rain. Frank |
RE: Hunting in the rain.....
thats why i have stainless rifles.

RE: Hunting in the rain.....
I too have a stainless barrell on my rifle. I will sit in the rain if if it isn't raining cats and dogs or if it starts while I am in the stand. I have heard of a lot of nice bucks killed in the rain. It is hard for me to get out of the bed and go get drowned and freeze to death in the mornings. Our season is too long for that.

RE: Hunting in the rain.....
Light rain is one of the best times to hunt. Deer move in the rain and if you are stalking it makes walking quieter!

RE: Hunting in the rain.....
I like hunting in a light rain. I worry about tracking in the rain. Don't want the blood to wash away.

RE: Hunting in the rain.....
Not much is better than bowhuntin` in an all day rain!

RE: Hunting in the rain.....
hunting during a drizzle is great.it is the best time for the old hogs also.have taken several in the rain.when it starts my wife starts putting on her hunting gear.she loves the rain during the season.no one in the woods to bother you.
I am not a hunter I am a whitetail population reduction specialest remember keep your back to the sun, your knife sharp, and your powder dry. |
