Ballistics?

Question here. I am in a discussion at work. On the back of a slug box it shows the trajectory of a slug going up then back down. It shows the slug rising from the moment it leaves the barrel to the 50 yd mark and then it starts to drop. Isn't that against physics?

physically the bullet starts dropping the minute it leaves the barrel, but since you sight above the barrel and zero it at a farther distance it causes the path to arc. This is why when using a ballistics calculator changing the sight height changes the ballistics.
Archery is the same way.
There is an actual name for it, but for the life of me I can't remember what it is.
